TSC's 'Shakespeare Uncovered' Costume Exhibit to Return to Gallery Ten Ninety One, 3/18

TN-Shakespeare-CompanyWKNO-Collaboration-for-HAMLET-20010101

Back by popular demand, "The Apparel Oft Proclaims the Man*" - A "Shakespeare Uncovered" Costume Exhibit, which was originally on display for two weeks in January at the WKNO Digital Media Center, will return for a one-month run beginning Monday, March 18. The exhibit, free and open to the public, is available for viewing March 18 through April 12 during office hours in Gallery Ten Ninety One and is curated by Tennessee Shakespeare Company (TSC) designer Bruce Bui.

WKNO-TV/FM and TSC are inviting the public to the WKNO Digital Media Center on Sunday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. to tour the exhibit and then at 2:00 p.m. to watch the one-hour documentary of "Hamlet with David Tennant", which recently aired as part of the PBS series Shakespeare Uncovered on WKNO/Channel 10.

The screening will be followed by a complimentary light lunch in Gallery Ten Ninety One. Beginning at approximately 3:45 p.m. TSC Producing Artistic Director Dan McCleary will lead a special one-hour Hamlet rehearsal workshop as TSC prepares for its production of the play, April 3-14 inside Dixon Gallery and Garden's Winegardner Auditorium.

The workshop, Shakespeare Live: Playing Hamlet on Stage, will feature professional actors from TSC's national cast working on Hamlet speeches and scenes, with guidance and observations from the audience. And for audience members who would like to work briefly on Hamlet, one or two volunteers will be invited to the stage.

The public may attend either or both of the events free of charge, but reservations are required and can be made at wkno.org.

The exhibit and events are part of several events on which WKNO and TSC are partnering as part of a community-wide project to celebrate the works of Shakespeare and expose the community to his plays. These events and special pieces for television and radio are thanks to a grant in support of the PBS series Shakespeare Uncovered, produced by WNET New York Public Media.

The partnership between TSC and WKNO is one of only ten such collaborations between public television stations and Shakespeare companies in the United States to receive the grant by WNET.

Shakespeare Uncovered will return to WKNO in an all-day marathon on Memorial Day.

Tickets for all TSC Hamlet performances are $25 in advance and $30 day-of-show. Tickets for the Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4 preview performances are only $15, regardless of when purchased. Thursday, April 4 and Thursday, April 11 are Free Will Kids' Nights: Children 17 years and younger are admitted FREE when accompanied by a paying/attending guardian.
