Playhouse on the Square's Solstice Party to Benefit Overton Park Conservancy, 6/21

(6/5/2013) - Playhouse on the Square will honor Overton Park Conservancy with its next Four Seasons party on Friday, June 21st from5:30 pm - 6:30pm. The Four Seasons Cocktail Series is a set of free happy-hour events that coincide with each equinox and solstice. A different non-profit organization is honored at each event and guests are invited to learn about and support the honoree's mission while enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a signature cocktail.

With a score filled with jazz, ragtime, blues and gospel, The Color Purple is a celebration of the healing power of love and the human will to persevere. Nominated for 11 Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

(5/1/2013) - Tennessee Shakespeare Company, the Mid-South's professional, classical theatre and education organization, is offering two unique, immersive Shakespeare Play Camps to be held at the Poplar Pike Playhouse at Germantown High School this June. Camps are open to students entering Grades 6-12.

(5/1/2013) - The Orpheum Theatre announced its much-anticipated 2013 Summer Movie Series on May 1. This year's series, presented for a second year by Orion Federal Credit Union, will commemorate the theatre's 85th Anniversary with the best-loved films of the past eight decades. The series will run from June to August at the Orpheum Theatre.

(4/11/2013) - Brighton Beach Memoirs opens at Theatre Memphis on the Lohrey Stage April 26, 2013 with Irene Crist returning to direct the Neil Simon coming of age comedy. The plot focuses on a semi-autobiographical story featuring Eugene Morris Jerome, a Polish-Jewish American teenager, who experiences the turmoil of his family dynamics, his sexual awakening and his search for his identity. Having to deal with his older brother and female cousins who move into his home, the family situations prove to be material that is tender and funny. The original Broadway production was the winner of the New Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play.

Boiler Room Theatre Announces Summer Camps

(4/11/2013) - The Act Too Players (ATP), Williamson County's premier training program for all youths interested in the performing arts have teamed up with the Boiler Room, Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company to host summer camps. The Act Too Players and The Boiler Room Theatre have been hosting Summer Camps together for the past 10 years. The partnership has been formed to provide students the best theatrical experience in Williamson County. Every student gets the opportunity to rehearse with the best directors, musical directors, and technical staff. Our goal is to instruct your child on the art of theatre while providing a fun, safe, environment. Both companies are located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., 809B, in Franklin, Tenn.
